Burnt Wood Protector PB600 - Protection for Siding, Furniture and Other Shou Sugi Ban Wood
The Burnt Wood Protector PB600 impregnates, fixes and protects the charred surface of burnt wood. This protective product makes burnt wood, or Shou Sugi Ban, easy to handle, without leaving carbon traces on hands or clothes. It reinforces the surface carbon layer to protect it durably from bad weather (rain, wind, sun) outdoors and from rubbing indoors, thus preserving the original black burnt appearance for a long time. Available in 1, 2, 5 or 10L..
Burnt Wood, or Shou Sugi Ban, or Yakisugi, is an ancestral technique of Japanese origin which consists of burning the surface of the wood to transform it into a layer of carbon. This protects the wooden surface and gives it an unrivalled aesthetic appearance. This technique is increasingly used today in the manufacture of outdoor cladding. To enhance the black appearance and preserve the protective properties of burnt wood, we have developed a burnt wood protection product: the Burnt Wood Protector PB600. Available in a colourless or black stain version.
Specially dedicated to the protection of burnt wood, this product is safe for the environment and the applicator.

GUIDE TO THE BURNT WOOD PROTECTOR
PREPARE THE SURFACE ON THE SHOU SUGI BAN
- Simply make sure that the burnt wood has not been covered with a film-forming finish beforehand.
USE OF THE PROTECTOR
- The protector is ready for use. Always shake the protector well before application. Do not dilute the protector.
- Make sure that the ambient temperature is between +10°C (50F) and +35°C (95f). Avoid using the product in rainy weather or in direct sunlight.
- Apply delicately with a spalter, roller (short hairs) or sprayer, without pressing to avoid damaging the surface carbon layer.
- Apply in several passes for a good impregnation of the product. 2 to 3 coats of the burnt wood protector are sufficient. You can leave 12 hours between each coat, without exceeding 24 hours.
DRYING
- Allow to dry. Wait at least 24 hours before putting back into use.
- Take a few precautions during the first few days.
TIPS
- We recommend testing the burnt wood protector beforehand on a fall or an inconspicuous area to test the final result. To get an idea, you can consult the photo gallery Burnt Wood Protector PB600
- The carbon layer is very brittle in its raw state. We recommend applying the product gently so as not to pull off the carbon.
MAINTAINING THE BURNT WOOD SURFACE
MAINTENANCE OF BURNT WOOD
- When the carbon layer begins to disintegrate under the action of the weather, apply a new layer of product to reinforce the protection.
