The Light Oak Saturator SCH600 is a high-performance protection and maintenance product specially designed for wood decks, cladding, pergolas, screens and garden furniture. Its water-based formulation provides long-lasting protection for wood exposed to weather conditions and UV rays, while enhancing the natural grain with its elegant and bright light oak tint.

Its non-film-forming formula penetrates deep into the wood fibers without creating a surface layer: it does not peel, makes maintenance easier, and preserves the matte, natural appearance of light wood species. A simple one-coat application is enough to deliver durable and even protection.

Available in 1, 2, 5 or 10 L, as well as a 60 ml sample to test the color before full application.

Description

The Light Oak Saturator SCH600 is designed to provide long-lasting protection and enhancement for wood exposed to the elements. Whether for a wooden deck, cladding, pergola or garden furniture, it offers reinforced protection against greying, moisture and UV rays while delivering a warm and luminous aesthetic finish.

Its Light Oak shade highlights the natural grain of the wood without masking it, creating a natural look that fits perfectly into both contemporary and traditional environments. The Light Oak Saturator SCH600 is particularly appreciated for:

  • Its ability to even out the colour of slightly weathered wood.
  • Its UV resistance, which effectively slows down discoloration.
  • Its water-based formulation, free from harmful solvents, environmentally friendly and pleasant to apply.

Compared to a stain, this saturator is non-film-forming: it does not create a surface layer and will not peel. Unlike an oil, it does not leave the wood sticky or greasy, and does not require wiping after application. Maintenance is therefore greatly simplified: a simple reapplication is enough, with no stripping or heavy sanding required.

How to use the Exotic Wood Saturator HOW TO USE THE SATURATOR

Surface preparation:

  • Before applying the Light Oak Saturator SCH600, it is essential to properly prepare the wood. The surface must be clean, dry and dust-free to ensure optimal penetration. If the wood shows dirt or green deposits, we recommend using the N100 Cleaner or its concentrated version N140 Cleaner to remove all impurities. For wood that has turned grey over time, applying the DG105 Exterior Wood Brightener will restore brightness and uniformity. Always allow the wood to dry for 24 to 48 hours before applying the saturator.

Product application:

  • The SCH600 comes ready to use and requires no dilution. Shake the container well before use to homogenise the pigments. Apply the saturator following the grain direction, working in small sections (board-by-board for decking or cladding). Use a wide brush to spread the product evenly. One coat is enough on new wood. For older or highly exposed wood, a second coat may be applied after 2 to 24 hours if the wood still absorbs product.

Drying time:

  • After application, allow the saturator to dry. It becomes dry to the touch in 2 to 4 hours, but requires about 24 hours for full drying. Avoid contact with water and do not replace furniture immediately. For decks, wait before heavy foot traffic; for cladding, avoid immediate rainfall.

Precautions before application PRECAUTIONS BEFORE APPLYING THE SATURATOR

  • Do not apply below 10°C or above 30°C.
  • Avoid application in direct sunlight or on heated wood.
  • Do not apply on greyed, mouldy or blackened wood without preparation.
  • Do not apply in rainy weather.

Precautions after application PRECAUTIONS AFTER APPLICATION

A few precautions are required during the first days after applying the SCH600:

  • Do not cover the treated surface immediately.
  • Avoid dragging heavy furniture across the surface during the first days.

Pro Tips PRO TIPS

  • For best performance of your Light Oak Saturator SCH600, follow a few recommendations. The ideal application period is spring or autumn, when temperatures are mild and stable. In summer, apply during cooler hours—early morning or late afternoon—and favour shaded areas to prevent overly fast drying. Winter is not recommended, as cold and damp wood limits penetration. For more information, refer to our guide When should you apply a saturator on a wooden deck?.
  • For new wood, especially light species, it is recommended to leave the wood outdoors for 3 to 6 weeks after installation to allow the pores to open. This ensures deeper penetration. For older wood, ensure that it is perfectly clean and dry before treatment.
  • When applying, always work in the direction of the grain and proceed in continuous sections: board-by-board for decking, plank-by-plank for cladding. Avoid crossing strokes or reworking drying areas, as this may cause marks. Spread the product well with a wide brush to reduce consumption and avoid over-application.
  • For maintenance, reapply SCH600 every 9 to 18 months on average, depending on UV exposure and weather conditions. For highly exposed surfaces, such as south-facing decks, annual maintenance is recommended. As soon as the colour lightens or water no longer beads, a new application is needed. This consistency helps keep your outdoor woodwork in perfect condition while preserving the natural look of light wood.

Benefits of the Exotic Wood Saturator Why choose a Light Oak saturator instead of an oil or a stain?

A Light Oak wood saturator offers several advantages compared with other products:

  • More effective than an oil, as it contains essential UV-resistant agents for exposed wood.
  • More convenient than a stain or varnish, as it is non-film-forming and requires no heavy stripping during maintenance.
  • More aesthetic, as it preserves a natural and bright appearance that respects the wood grain.

The Light Oak Saturator SCH600 is therefore the ideal solution to protect, enhance and extend the lifespan of your outdoor wood structures while giving them a warm and elegant finish.
